About

The University of Montana maintains a single database of directory information (i.e. demographic, academic, biographical and statistical) of all constituents classified into categories of graduates, former students, current students, parents, donors and other entities or individuals. The University of Montana recognizes and authorizes this single database to be managed and maintained by the University of Montana Office of Alumni Relations. With the assistance of affiliated departments and organizations, more than 150,000 records are stored and maintained on this database.

The University of Montana Alumni Relations Database is for official University use only. Use of this information for any other purpose is strictly prohibited without advanced written permission.

Any request processed through the University of Montana Office of Alumni Relations will involve several offices and may take up to 5-7 business days to process after final approval is received. It is recommended that requests be submitted 2 weeks prior to the date the information is needed by your department.

If there is to be a soliciting of funds via email, a solicitation code must be requested from the University of Montana Foundation Annual Fund Office. This code facilitates reporting on the results of the solicitation. Contact the Associate Director of Annual Giving at 406-243-2575 for questions on this process.

The University of Montana Office of Alumni Relations and the University of Montana Foundation of Charitable Giving reserve the right to reject any request, or details of any request, with insufficient, irrelevant, or inappropriate criteria.

Reports / Downloads represent a snapshot in time of the underlying data. Changes to that data today (e.g. gift adjustments, additions, deaths, address changes, marriages, etc.) can result in the same report / download having different results tomorrow. If requesting a total number of constituents which meet a certain criteria (e.g. to determine how many of a mailing to print) and will request the information again to receive the mailing information, the numbers on the second request may be different from the first.

Do you need a copy of your diploma or a transcript?

The Office of Alumni Relations does not process these requests. Please visit the Registrar's Office website for details on requesting a transcript or replacement diploma.

Does the Alumni Relations Database meet USPS Move Update Requirements?

Yes. The Alumni Relations database is regularly updated by the National Change of Address database (NCOA). This verification is required to be updated every 90 days. The mailing list provided will expire and will no longer meet USPS mailing requirements. The mailing list provided cannot be added to, modified, retained for future mailings, or used in any way other than was stated on the submitted request. If file is modified or submitted for bulk mailing after the verification has expired, the requesting department is responsible for any additional costs incurred due to its not meeting USPS mailing requirements. View our current NCOA verification certificate.
