Christine L. Howe Memorial Service Scholarship
The University of Montana Alumni Association honors the spirit of service that defines the Grizzly community. In remembrance of Christine L. Howe, this scholarship recognizes students who embody her commitment to service and dedication to making a positive impact. Awarded annually, the Christine L. Howe Memorial Service Scholarship supports individuals who continue to uphold the values of generosity and care that Christine cherished.
Purpose
This scholarship rewards students who have demonstrated prior service and leadership to our nation, state, community, and/or the University of Montana. It honors individuals who have positively impacted others and seek to continue serving in meaningful ways in the future.
Scholarship Amount
A $4,100 scholarship will be awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarship is split between the spring and fall semesters.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be undergraduate or post-baccalaureate students.
- Preference will be given to:
- Post-baccalaureate students.
- Students intending to pursue further service after completing their studies.
- Military, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, VISTA National Service program, or Montana Conservation Corps veterans.
Selection Criteria
Recipients will be selected based on their demonstrated history of service and leadership, with emphasis on their contributions to their community, state, nation or the University of Montana. The selection committee will also consider the applicant's potential for future service.
Dependents of a staff member of the University of Montana Alumni Association or a member of the UMAA Board of Directors are not eligible for the scholarship. Previous recipients do not qualify for the scholarship.
